Fall outdoor activities for kids:
Take Nature Walks on the Beltline
Allow your kids to take in nature and see the varieties of wildlife plus the changing colors of the leaves. With 6 different official trails on the Beltline, you have plenty of options for your nature walks.
Trails on the Beltline:
Eastside Trail
Runs from the tip of Piedmont Park to Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward.
Was funded by public and private charitable sources.
Westside Trail
Offers a bicycle and pedestrian-safe passageway.
16 points of entry (most of them are accessible to people of all abilities).
Northside Trail
A very scenic stretch of trail on the Atlanta Beltline
Connects two other existing trails and runs through the Tanyard Creek Park
Southwest Connector Spur Trail
A PATH Foundation-led project.
Will eventually connect the Atlanta Beltline through the Westview neighborhood and join in part with the 33 miles of paved trails networked together.
West End Trail
Stretches 2.4miles from White Street to Westview Cemetery
Connects several neighborhoods including historic West end, Mozley Park and Westview.
Interim Trails
Unlike the other 5 trails, this one is left in a more natural state.
Compacted railroad gravel and dirt
Connects shops and restaurants at Amsterdam Walk

Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Yule Forest, in Stockbridge just about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta. It’s home to one of the largest pumpkin patches in Georgia. With all of the additional features and outdoor fall activities like hayrides, mazes and a petting zoo it’s easy to see why it’s a great attraction in the fall. Finding autumn activities for toddlers isn’t difficult here because they even have puppet shows, a kid zone, STEM learning centers and a ton of other amazing autumn activities for kids.
Apple Picking
BJ Reece Orchards in North Georgia, just a little over an hour from Atlanta. Get your tickets in advance, and even purchase a package for a Saturday or Sunday visit. Make sure you purchase your apple picking packages early. The Orchard opens early for apple picking at the beginning of August and apples tend to be gone by late September!
BJ Reece Orchards was rated one of the top “fun get-a-way” destinations in Georgia and with all of their extra fun activities for children and families, it’s not hard to see why. There is a U-pick orchard, country bakery, petting farm, pony ride and more!
Apple picking is a time-honored and traditional fall outdoor activities for kids and their families. Picking the apples and touring around the local orchards is just one of the autumn activities that everyone should experience within their lifetime.
Have fun at Various Festivals
Festivals are another one of the outdoor fall activities you don’t want to miss out on. If you’re looking for kids events for your children, you can search “fall festivals near me” and find a ton of great family friendly festivals in the local area. One of these is the Candler Park Fall Festival. This event is free to attend and any money earned by it goes directly back into supporting the community!
You can find great food, live music, and a kid zone at this fun fall festival.
Trek through a Corn Maze
One of the more popular fall games for kids is the corn maze. Some farmers get so extreme with their corn maze building that it becomes a tourist attraction worth looking forward to every year.
Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze is a 4 mile set of trails filled with twists and turns and dead ends. It takes as little as 30 minutes to complete a trail, so this can easily turn into an all-day fun fall event for you and your kids. Throw some food for the family in the bag (or basket) for a picnic and enjoy a fun family day at the farm.
Visit the High Museum the Day after Thanksgiving
If you’re looking for more autumn activities for children, the High Museum of Art in Midtown offers a "Day After Thanksgiving" event specifically for kids. This is a day filled with arts and crafts, storytelling, and other fun festivities.
Plus, if you’re looking for other autumn activities for toddlers at the High, don't forget every single Thursday they have "Toddler Thursday" where they do artwork and tours with the littles!
Check out a ball game
Football is huge in the south, so checking out a football game with your kid is a must. Anything from your local high school game, to maybe even an SEC team game would be exciting!
