How to Make a Kids Bento Box for Picky Eaters
Being a mom to a toddler I’ve found that getting them eat is a task in itself. Little David is super picky about what he eats now and has his favorites. He will eat fruits and veggies, but he even has preferences for those. I’ve started making a kids bento box for him to make sure he tries a variety of foods but still gets in what he likes as well as his nutrition. If you’ve been having trouble getting your little one to eat, here are a few tips on how you can make a Kids’ bento box to make meals and snacks fun!

Make a kids bento box for picky eaters.
Incorporate some of their favorite snacks.
I’m sure your little one has his/her favorites. Make sure you pack 1-2 compartments in your bento box with some of your little’s favorite snacks or foods. At least you know that if nothing, they will eat those.
Choose finger foods.
Finger foods are good because they’re best for the little ones to easily hold. Plus, you can pack them if you’re on the go because they can be handled well even if you’re not able to sit down at a table and eat.
Add a variety of color and texture.
Different colors and textures add excitement to our plates as adults, and the same goes for the kids. A kids bento box that is full of colors and textures from different foods just looks more appetizing. Try adding fruits, veggies, grains, and protein that give your bento box a rainbow!
Make sure to include fruits and veggies.
It may be difficult to get some kids to eat their fruits and veggies, but make sure to include them in your bento box, and again, try a variety. Going for things that are in season are your best bet to make sure you get really great quality produce.
Use sandwich and fruit cutters for fun.
Little David is really into trains and dinosaurs right now (yes, he’s THAT little boy). I found the cutest sandwich cutter set on Amazon and just had to get it. The set also comes with fruit and veggie cutters, plus other goodies. Using these extra accessories makes creating a kids bento box that much more fun. Little David just lights up with laughter and excitement when he sees his train or dinosaur sun butter and jelly sandwiches!
Include a little sweet treat.
I know when I can’t get my son to eat anything, he will eat anything that has some sweetness. Whether it’s a yogurt, wafers, or another kind of treat your little one likes, make sure to include it in their kids bento box!
I hope you’re able to take these tips and tools to make the perfect kids bento box for your little one. With the reality that is about to be home school for many of us, I think these will be a lunch time hit for your kids! Share pics of your kids’ bento boxes on IG with me. I can’t wait to see them!
